The name “Moscow” originates from the Moskva River, alongside which the city was founded.

As you move farther from the center of the circle — the Kremlin Palace and the presidential residence — towards the outskirts, the prices of houses and neighborhoods gradually decrease, and the level of modernity also diminishes. Overall, it can be said that the city center is the most important area economically and politically.

The city has four well-known airports and approximately 223 metro stations. Moscow’s metro system has been in operation since 1935 and is recognized as one of the longest and oldest metro networks in the world. One of its metro stations reaches a depth of 84 meters, making it one of the deepest metro stations globally. Moscow’s four airports—Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky—are located in the northern and southern parts of this vast city.
Climate
The city experiences relatively cold winters and mild to warm summers, with temperatures dropping as low as -20°C in winter and rising up to 40°C in summer. Moscow’s summers are accompanied by an interesting phenomenon known as the “White Nights,” during which the sun sets around 11:00 PM and rises again around 3:00 AM.
